For those of us who suffer from musophobia, rats are a very unwelcome pest. However, there really is no need to fear. Rats not only make one of the friendliest companions a pet-owner could have, they are incredibly intelligent, versatile and, despite what you might think about animal testing, have played a crucial role in the advancement of modern medicine.
